Athens is amazing ! The modern city, much like Rome, has built up around the ancient ruins of the Greek empire. There is something for everyone in Athens. Whether you enjoy fine food, wine, art, music, or history, Athens can provide everyone with something amazing.

As an American, I have often found food in Europe dissapointing. It's not that the food is bad, it's just european food preparation is very different from here in the USA. For example, we clean our fish. We cut the head off, remove the internals and often fillet them. In europe you order fish and get one, head, skin, tail, fins, even the eyeballs. The fish tastes great but a pickey eater is out of luck. It makes taking kids very hard. Athens on the other hand, and really all of Greece, has the best food I've ever had anywhere.

The history in Athens is also unbeatable. No 'ancient world vacation' is complete without a day atop the Acropolis with the world famous Parthenon.
