When you mention St. Tropez to most people they think of palm trees, beaches, and hot sun. Although the region has plenty of this to offer, it also has the amazing midieval castle ruins, and beautiful storybook French country side.

Rather than lay on the beach in St. Tropez, we instead took the opportunity to visit Grimauld Castle. The village surrounding the castle is a typical French country village. There is a chapel there that contains the world's oldest existing stained glass window. Some of the residents of the village still have ties back to the Grimaldi family, who, during Feudal days helped William the Good defeat the Seracens when they invaded what was then Gaul.

Today a modern town has sprung up just 4 km from the old city and is called Port Grimauld. It is a modern interpretation of Venice and very similar in design.
